Not only is it Valentine’s Day, but it’s exactly 100 days until our big day! As we count down to the wedding, I thought I’d take you behind the scenes of our engagement photos. What better backdrop than the stunning TPC Sawgrass?!
Combining our love for golf and our ties to the PGA TOUR, we decided to capture this chapter in our lives at one of the sport’s most iconic courses — and we began our session at the famous 17th hole.
We worked with TOUR photographer Ryan Young — not only is he immensely talented but he’s a friend and made us feel comfortable, even though we were totally awkward. My career may be in front of the lens but kissing on camera is a whole different story???
Our photo session on the Island Green was fun but the clubhouse proved to be my favorite backdrop at the course. Stunning in stature and architectural elegance, the TPC Sawgrass clubhouse takes my breath away every time I visit.
Now when we look back at these photos, no matter where we are, we can remember our favorite happy hour spot on the clubhouse patio — where we like to admire the sunset after our round over a glass of wine and a few apps.
As much as I loved our photos at the golf course, my favorites were the ones we took at the beach — one of my favorite places in the world. There’s nothing like a stroll on the beach, something we love to do together on a regular basis.
But couple the iridescent blue with the pop of my pink dress and you’ve got yourself a match made in heaven! (Much like us?) A vibrant, solid color would be my advice for picking clothing for your engagement session. Mitchell’s Island Company gray linen button-down compliments my dress nicely. We opted not to do a change of clothes and it was way easier — but that’s your personal preference and it also depends on your budget. (Some photographers may charge you extra for different “looks.”)
So maybe you don’t have a beach or an iconic golf course at your disposal, so what?! Choose places in your area you enjoy going to together. And most any golf course can be a beautiful backdrop, no matter if it’s well-known or not. Just make sure to ask them ahead of time if it’s ok for you to take photos on the course and be mindful of your surroundings during your session.
